Quick Testing Guide

Follow this pre-launch verification checklist to test your bundles before going live.

Step 1: Test Theme App Embed Activation

  1. Open your active Shopify Theme Editor.
  2. Ensure the Combo Bundles toggle in App Embeds is turned ON.
  3. Verify that no console errors appear in your browser developer tools.

Step 2: Test Product Page Bundle Widget

  1. Navigate to a product page that has an active bundle offer.
  2. Confirm that all bundled items, thumbnails, and variant selectors display cleanly.
  3. Select different size/color options and verify that the price and thumbnail update smoothly.
  4. Check that the savings badge (e.g., 'Save $15.00') calculates correctly.

Step 3: Test Add to Cart & Checkout Flow

  1. Click the Add Bundle to Cart button.
  2. Verify that your cart drawer or cart page opens and lists the bundled items with the proper discount applied.
  3. Proceed to the Shopify Checkout page and ensure the bundle discount appears on the order summary.
  4. Place a test order using Shopify Bogus Gateway or test mode.

Step 4: Verify Inventory Deduction in Shopify Admin

  1. Open Shopify Admin > Orders and click your recent test order.
  2. Confirm that all component products are listed correctly.
  3. Open Shopify Admin > Products > Inventory and verify that stock for each component decreased by 1.

Step 5: Test GDPR Compliance Webhooks with Shopify CLI

  1. Open your terminal and run shopify app webhook trigger --topic=customers/data_request to test the customer data request flow.
  2. Verify that your app server returns an immediate HTTP 200 OK response with verified HMAC signature.
  3. Trigger shopify app webhook trigger --topic=customers/redact and ensure customer identifiers are scrubbed.
  4. Trigger shopify app webhook trigger --topic=shop/redact and verify that shop session tokens and settings are purged.

Step 6: Test Uninstallation & Verify Clean Theme Code

  1. Open Online Store > Themes > Customize and toggle off the Combo Bundles App Embed.
  2. Preview your product pages in a new browser incognito window.
  3. Open Browser Developer Tools (F12) > Console tab and verify that zero JavaScript errors or 404 script warnings appear.
  4. Confirm that standard product price, variants, and Add to Cart buttons function natively without residual bundle styling.

Step 7: Shopify App Store Review Readiness Checklist

  1. OAuth & Embedded Experience: Verify that the app installs cleanly inside Shopify Admin with App Bridge embedded navigation.
  2. Theme App Extension Integrity: Confirm that bundle blocks can be dragged, positioned, and customized in the theme inspector without code editing.
  3. Google Lighthouse Performance Audit: Verify that product pages achieve mobile performance scores >85 with Combo Bundles enabled.
  4. Legal & Support Links: Ensure that active links to Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and Contact Support are visible in the app footer and navigation.
